A New Hope....

While reading my Blog, and realizing that there hasn't been an update since 2007 - I then became aware of the Irony behind writing a blog about what's wrong with america and actually becoming whats wrong with america. Were too damn lazy. period. people make grandiose plans that no one in their right minds would think about becoming reality. All the while passing it off like its going to happen tomorrow. "Sure, we really should go hiking in the everglades - tomorrow in fact, lets go. I'm serious. we should really do this." Not going to happen. Yet we really mean what we say, even if we know were lying.

So maybe this is one of THOSE lies. the kind you mean - but not really.

The ruse then my friends is this:

I will sketch a picture every day - starting today, and post it on this web page.

Posted like this until I can think of something better.

Moral Relativism: An assault on logic and reason that has led to the ethical brainwashing of Americans – Part I

In this article I will briefly go over what it means to be a moral relativist, why moral relativism is an assault logic and reason, how moral relativism has crept into the American psyche, and why it is detriment to our society. For this article's purposes I am only concerned with moral and ethical relativism.

The REAL Problem With America: A responce to "The Problem With America" essay

In response to the essay entitled “The Problem With America” I have written this critique.

Here is a review of the article’s main points:

In the opening paragraph the assertion is laid out: “The biggest problem in America today is that the party line has been drawn over our lives, drawn down the center of the nation, drawn through our homes and families.” While I think this is a worth while topic for argument, no evidence in the essay is given to back up this claim. The essay instead goes on to argue a completely different point.

Clearly, we Americans live in Nazi Germany.

Someone, or something has come in the middle of the night, while we Americans slept snugly in our beds. Dreaming wet Dreams of diets that come in pills, larger automobiles, and alcohol that has no hangover. Purring our fat selves to sleep, our homes were snatched off their foundation, all accost this great nation - and transported. What a sight!

Agreed, Jakob Nielsen's "Article" entitled: Write Articles, Not Blog Posts

On the list of things that are wrong with America is the attention deficit disorder new media invokes. Particularly blogs invoke a new type of consumption: The commodity content, tidbit of content, or micro-argument if you will.

Jakob Nielson's Article: Write Articles, Not blog Posts talks a bit about the phenomenon, and how content full of conversation and information, rather then just a few words and a link, is beneficial to the web.

The iPhone... the f-ing iPhone...

As if I really need to comment on all the phoning over the consumer device. But after listening to the first half of This Week In Tech episode number 103 I thought different. Don't get me wrong - I'm not bashing the device. It could be the best phone ever forged in the bowels of hell by satan himself, I simply don't know. The Phone's technology, and use is not what is up for debate here. I'm only concerned with the social phenomenon and mindless consumerism which the device invoked in me and my fellow Americans.

Follow up: Free Speech at Stake?

The following is an excerpt from an e-mail sent to me, subject title: A necessary addendum to the AFA petition I sent yesterday. It basically sums up what I originally thought, but my argument from before still stands. Alarmists are a huge part of What is Wrong With America.

"Dear Fr. Dmitri and anyone else on his forward list who gets this message:

I am somewhat familiar with the whole AFA "mass alarm" process. I come from an evangelical Christian background originally, and have observed tactics of this kind off and on for the last 40 years or so.

Sopranos Ending - The epitome of What is Wrong With America?

I have heard the rumor from multiple sources that the ending of Sopranos actually is a setup for the movie HBO set to release, whenever. One was a from a guest on NPR, another from Alex Albrecht on the Totally Rad Show, and this was also the general feeling from friends.
